# Ghost follow-up scripts

> A warm conversation stopped mid-thread days ago and you're not sure how to bring it back.

Conversations stall for reasons that have nothing to do with you -- a busy week, a notification that got buried, a decision that's still half-made. Treating every silence as a rejection is how coaches end up either over-apologizing or disappearing entirely.

The scripts below assume good faith. None of them ask 'did you see my last message?' -- that question puts the lead on the defensive before they've said a word. Instead, each one gives them an easy, low-stakes way back into the thread.

Space these out. One reopen a few days after the silence, then let it sit for weeks before trying again -- the old-lead-revival scripts are built for that longer gap.

## The scripts

### 1. No-guilt reopen

```
hey! no worries if things got busy -- wanted to circle back on [topic] whenever it's useful for you.
```

Why it works: Skips any reference to being ignored, which removes the awkwardness that usually kills a reply.

### 2. Something useful, no ask

```
saw this and thought of our conversation -- [resource/tip]. no need to reply, just wanted you to have it.
```

Why it works: Gives value with zero pressure to respond, which often gets a reply anyway.

### 3. Closing the loop, sparingly

```
totally fine either way, just don't want to hold a spot if the timing's changed for you -- still want me to keep you posted, or should I check back another time?
```

Why it works: Forces a real answer without pressure tactics; best used once per lead rather than repeatedly.

### 4. Seasonal reopen

```
with [the new season] coming up, figured I'd check back in -- is [goal] still something you're working toward?
```

Why it works: Uses a natural, external reason to restart contact instead of referencing the unanswered message.

### 5. The honest callback

```
been thinking about what you asked re: [specific question] -- still curious how that ended up going for you?
```

Why it works: Shows you actually remembered the specifics, which is rare enough to earn a reply on its own.

## FAQ

### How many times should I follow up before giving up?

Two, maybe three, spaced days or weeks apart. After that, move them to a longer-term list and try again in a month or two rather than continuing to chase.

### Is it okay to ask if they're still interested?

Use the closing-the-loop script sparingly and only after real engagement earlier in the thread -- asked too early or too often, it reads as pressure instead of a genuine check-in.
