# Consult no-show recovery scripts

> They booked the call, and then just didn't show up.

No-shows are almost never personal -- life gets in the way of calendar invites constantly: a work emergency, a kid, a forgotten alarm. Leading with blame or disappointment closes a door that's usually still open.

Reach out the same day if you can, while the miss is still fresh and easy to laugh off. The longer it sits, the more awkward it gets for the lead to reopen the conversation themselves.

If it happens a second time, that's useful information -- it might mean the timing genuinely isn't right, or that a call isn't the right format for this lead. The async script below exists for exactly that case.

## The scripts

### 1. Same-day, no-blame reschedule

```
hey, no worries at all if something came up -- want to grab a new time for that call, or would a different day of the week work better?
```

Why it works: Assumes a reasonable explanation instead of asking why they missed it, which keeps the door open.

### 2. Life happens, next week

```
makes sense, this week can be chaotic. want to just aim for sometime next week instead, whenever's easier?
```

Why it works: Removes urgency and gives the lead a full week of flexibility instead of pinning them to a specific slot again.

### 3. Async alternative

```
if hopping on a call is hard to line up, I can just send over a voice note covering what we'd talk through -- want me to do that instead?
```

Why it works: Solves for the real barrier, often scheduling rather than interest, by removing the need for a live call entirely.

### 4. The gentle final close

```
no pressure either way, but wanted to check -- still want to find a time for this, or has the timing changed for you?
```

Why it works: After a second miss, this asks directly instead of proposing a third time slot that's likely to be missed too.

## FAQ

### Should I mention that they missed the call?

Acknowledge it lightly if at all -- 'no worries if something came up' does the job without making them explain themselves.

### What if they no-show a second time?

Move to the async alternative or the gentle final close rather than proposing a third call. Repeating the same ask after two misses usually just produces a third miss.
