# Connect Messenger to SetLuca

Connect your Facebook Page and SetLuca replies to its Messenger inbox the way you write. About three minutes. Auto-send is on by default.

## What SetLuca does on Messenger

It can:

- Read the messages people send your Facebook Page
- Write a reply to each one, the way you write
- Send it on its own with auto-send, which is on by default, or hold it for your approval when you switch Messenger to review
- Read the Page's recent replies once, when you connect, to learn the way you write. Leads' messages from that read are discarded

It cannot:

- Read your personal Facebook messages; SetLuca only sees the Page inbox
- Post to the Page, comment, or run ads
- Message anyone who has not written to the Page first

## Before you start

About three minutes, once you have these.

- A Facebook Page for your business
- A Facebook login that is an admin of that Page

## The steps

1. **Confirm your role on the Page.** Open Meta Business Suite -> Settings -> People and check that you are an admin of the Page. Editors cannot connect it.
2. **Start the connection in SetLuca.** In SetLuca, pick Messenger on the Connect a channel step and choose Continue with Facebook.
3. **Pick the Page and approve access.** Choose the Page whose inbox SetLuca should work, then grant the messaging permissions Meta lists.
4. **Send yourself a test message.** From a second Facebook account, message the Page. It appears in SetLuca, and the reply goes out within seconds. Switch Messenger to review if you want to approve each reply first.

## If something goes wrong

### Why is your Page missing from the list?

You are logged into a Facebook account that is not an admin of that Page, and SetLuca can only connect a Page through an admin. Check your role in Meta Business Suite -> Settings -> People; editors cannot connect it. Then log out of Facebook, log back in as an admin, and choose Continue with Facebook again.

### Why do older conversations not appear?

That is expected. Your inbox in SetLuca starts from the moment you connect. SetLuca reads the Page's recent replies once to learn the way you write, but it does not bring old conversations in. When someone from an older conversation writes to the Page again, their new message appears in SetLuca like any other.

### Why is a reply blocked as outside the window?

Facebook only allows a freeform reply within 24 hours of the lead's last message. SetLuca tells you when that window has closed rather than sending something Meta would reject. The window opens again as soon as the lead writes to the Page, so the conversation picks up from their next message.

## What connecting gives us
