# Connect Instagram to Luca

Link your Instagram Professional account through Facebook so Luca reads DMs and comments and drafts replies in your voice. Five minutes, plus Meta's review.

## What Luca does on Instagram

It can:

- Read the DMs, story replies, and story mentions that land in your inbox
- Draft a reply in your voice for each one
- Send a reply once you approve it
- Read comments on your posts and turn a buying signal into a DM conversation
- Send at a human pace and take breaks like a person, so activity stays natural

It cannot:

- Post, schedule, follow, unfollow, or like anything
- DM anyone who has not messaged you first
- Touch a personal Instagram account; Luca only works with Professional accounts
- Turn on auto-send before the 7-day human approval window ends; every reply waits for you until then

## Before you start

About five minutes, once you have these.

- An Instagram Professional account (Business or Creator). A personal account cannot be connected, and switching is free in Instagram's settings.
- A Facebook Page linked to that Instagram account. One Page per Instagram account.
- A Facebook login that is an admin of that Page.

## The steps

1. **Check the account type.** In the Instagram app: Settings -> Account type and tools. If it says Switch to professional account, tap it and pick Business or Creator. Nothing about your posts or followers changes.
2. **Link the Facebook Page.** Still in Instagram: Settings -> Sharing and remixing (or Account type and tools) -> Share to other apps, and connect the Facebook Page you use for the business. If you do not have one, create it first at facebook.com/pages/create.
3. **Start the connection in Luca.** In Luca, pick Instagram on the Connect a channel step and choose Continue with Facebook. Log in with the account that administers the Page.
4. **Approve the permissions.** Meta asks you to pick the Page and grant access to messages and comments. Grant all of them: a permission you skip is a part of Luca that silently does nothing.
5. **Send yourself a test DM.** From a second Instagram account, DM your business account. It appears in Luca with a draft reply within a few seconds.

## If something goes wrong

### Why will Meta not show your account in the list?

It is still a personal account, or it is not linked to a Facebook Page. Both are fixed in Instagram's settings, and the change takes effect immediately.

### Replies send, so why does nothing new arrive?

Reconnect from Settings -> Channels. This is almost always a permission that was declined on the Meta screen, and reconnecting shows the same screen again.

### You were an admin yesterday, so why does the connect fail today?

Check your role on the Page in Meta Business Suite. Editor is not enough; connecting needs admin.
