A personal account cannot be connected, and switching is free in Instagram's settings. - Message access turned on in Instagram, so connected tools can read your DMs. The steps below show where. - No Facebook Page. Instagram connects with its own login. ## The steps 1. **Check the account type.** In the Instagram app: Settings -> Account type and tools. If it says Switch to professional account, tap it and pick Business or Creator. Nothing about your posts or followers changes. 2. **Turn on message access.** In Instagram: Settings -> Messages and story replies -> Message controls -> Connected tools, and turn on Allow access to messages. Without it, Meta accepts the connection and delivers no DMs. 3. **Start the connection in SetLuca.** In this browser, sign in to the Instagram account you want to connect. Then, in SetLuca, pick Instagram on the Connect a channel step and choose Continue with Instagram. 4. **Approve the permissions.** Check the username on Instagram's authorization screen, then allow access to messages and comments. Grant all of them: a permission you skip is a part of SetLuca that silently does nothing. If it is the wrong account, cancel, switch accounts in Instagram, and start again. 5. **Send yourself a test DM.** From a second Instagram account, DM your business account. Use an Instagram Business or Creator account, turn on message access in Instagram, then choose Continue with Instagram in SetLuca. You do not need a Facebook Page. It takes about five minutes, and new DMs and story replies start reaching SetLuca as soon as you finish. ### Is an Instagram DM setter allowed? Yes, within Meta's rules. Meta lets a Professional account reply to people who message it first, through its official messaging API, inside a 24-hour window after their last message. What gets accounts restricted is cold DMs, mass messaging and unofficial bots that log in as you. SetLuca only uses the official API. ### What does SetLuca do on Instagram? Each channel keeps its own switch, so Instagram can auto-send while another channel waits for review. ## If something goes wrong ### Why does Instagram refuse to connect your account? It is still a personal account, and Instagram only lets tools like SetLuca connect to Professional accounts. In the Instagram app, open Settings -> Account type and tools and switch to Business or Creator. Switching is free, takes effect immediately, and changes nothing about your posts or followers. Then choose Continue with Instagram again. ### The account is connected, so why does nothing arrive? Allow access to messages is off. Without it, Meta accepts the connection and delivers no DMs. In the Instagram app, open Settings -> Messages and story replies -> Message controls -> Connected tools and turn it on. New DMs reach SetLuca from then on. To check, DM your business account from a second Instagram account. ### Replies send, so why does nothing new arrive? A permission was almost certainly declined on Instagram's authorization screen, so SetLuca can send but is not told about new messages or comments. Reconnect from Settings -> Channels in SetLuca. Instagram shows the same screen again: grant every permission it lists this time, then DM your business account from a second account to confirm. Still stuck?
