---# Setter AI (TrySetter) Review & Alternatives

> Setter AI (TrySetter) is a fully automated AI appointment setter for inbound leads. It replies in about 10 seconds over WhatsApp, SMS, and a website chatbot, then qualifies and books them into your calendar. In 2026 its pricing is per-lead and starts at $497/mo for 1,000 credits (source: trysetter.com). We score it 4.0 out of 5. It fits high-volume inbound; Instagram-first coaches will fit better elsewhere.

## Key takeaways

- Setter AI (TrySetter) is a fully automated AI appointment setter for inbound leads on WhatsApp, SMS, and a website chatbot, replying in about 10 seconds (source: trysetter.com).
- We score it 4.0 out of 5 on a six-part scorecard published below, with the points lost on channel coverage, oversight, and entry price.
- Monthly pricing is per-lead in credits: $497 for 1,000, $2,297 for 5,000, $3,497 for 10,000. Annual entry drops to about $397/mo (source: trysetter.com).
- It doesn't list Instagram DM support, publishes no free trial, and doesn't define what one credit consumes (source: trysetter.com).
- Where Luca differs: Instagram-first, adds Telegram, keeps a human review queue on by default, and starts at $99/mo flat.

This Setter AI review is for coaches and DM-sales businesses deciding whether TrySetter fits how they sell. I'm Leonardo, founder of Luca, which competes in the same category, so I'm not a neutral referee. I verified TrySetter's features and pricing on its own site and priced six alternatives the same week. If you run paid lead forms at volume, Setter AI is a serious tool. If you sell in Instagram DMs and want to review replies first, a different tool fits better.

## Our rating: 4.0 out of 5. How did we get there?

★★★★☆ We scored it **4.0 out of 5** across six weighted areas, each marked out of five, using what the company publishes plus prices re-checked in August 2026. Speed and channel coverage carry the most weight: speed is the job, and a setter that can't reach your inbox can't set anything.

| Criterion | Weight | Score | Why |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Speed of first reply | 20% | 5.0 | \~10-second first message after a form submission (trysetter.com) |
| Channel coverage | 20% | 3.0 | WhatsApp, SMS, website chat. No Instagram or Telegram listed |
| Qualification & booking | 15% | 4.5 | Books in-chat to Calendly, Acuity, Google Calendar; follow-ups and reminders |
| Integrations & setup effort | 15% | 4.5 | Zapier, Make, GoHighLevel, HubSpot, FB and LinkedIn lead forms |
| Control & human oversight | 15% | 3.5 | Monitoring with fallback, but no approve-before-send queue |
| Price & transparency | 15% | 3.5 | Public prices, which many rivals hide. Steep entry, credits undefined |
| **Weighted total** | **100%** | **4.00** | |

A 4.0 means a strong tool with a narrow shape. Two of the three points we took off are about fit, not quality.

## How did we evaluate Setter AI?

We judged Setter AI on what the vendor publishes, not on a long-running paid account, so weigh the review with that in mind. Every price, channel, integration, and language claim came from trysetter.com and its pricing page on 2026-08-07. Competitor prices came the same way, from each vendor's own pricing page in August 2026, because third-party round-ups go stale within a quarter.

The disclosure that matters most: I run Luca, which sells into the same category. That's a real conflict, and I'd rather name it than bury it in a footer. So the rules were narrow. No claim about Setter AI unless Setter AI publishes it. No performance numbers for Luca.

## What is Setter AI (TrySetter)?

It's an AI appointment setter that catches inbound leads the moment they arrive, qualifies them, and books them into your calendar. Its site describes a first reply in about 10 seconds after a form goes in, fully automated across WhatsApp, SMS, and a website chatbot (source: trysetter.com). The goal is beating every competitor to the lead while interest is hot.

It connects to Facebook and LinkedIn lead ads and to website forms, then qualifies against your criteria. It books inside the chat thread into Calendly, Acuity, or Google Calendar, sends follow-ups when leads go quiet, and fires reminders to cut no-shows. It handles 113+ languages and connects to Zapier, Make, GoHighLevel, and HubSpot (source: trysetter.com). The follow-up piece isn't decoration. It's the part most people stop doing after the second try, and it's the part that books the call.

## How much does Setter AI cost in 2026?

Pricing is per-lead, billed as monthly credits, and it sits at the top end of the category. As of August 2026 its site lists Starter at $497/mo for 1,000 credits, Professional at $2,297/mo for 5,000, and Business at $3,497/mo for 10,000. Annual billing drops the real rate to about $397/mo at entry, then roughly $1,997 and $2,997 (source: trysetter.com). There's no free trial and no free plan.

**Chart:** Starter $497/mo (1,000 credits), Professional $2,297/mo (5,000 credits), Business $3,497/mo (10,000 credits). Verified via trysetter.com, 2026. (Source: Setter AI pricing via trysetter.com (retrieved 2026-08-07).)

Divide it out and the entry tier costs about $0.50 per credit, dropping to roughly $0.35 at the top monthly tier. That only helps if you know how many credits one lead burns. Our breakdown of [what an AI appointment setter costs](/blog/how-much-does-an-ai-appointment-setter-cost) walks the wider range.

## What does one Setter AI credit actually consume?

Nobody outside the company can say, and that's the problem. The pricing page prices in credits but doesn't publish a credit-to-message or credit-to-lead conversion (retrieved 2026-08-07). The model is described as per-lead, and the tier names suggest one credit maps to one lead conversation, but "suggest" is doing real work there. Get the answer in writing before you sign.

Three questions settle it. Does a credit cover one lead for the life of the conversation, or does each outbound message draw down separately? A ten-message thread costs the same as a one-message no-reply under the first model, ten times as much under the second. Do follow-ups and reminders consume credits? And what happens when you run out mid-month: does the AI stop replying, or auto-top-up at a rate you haven't seen? A setter that goes silent on day 22 is worse than none, because the lead already got a reply and now thinks you ghosted them.

## Setter AI pros and cons

**Pros**

- Fast in a way humans can't match: a \~10-second first reply, at 3am, on a Sunday, at any volume (source: trysetter.com).
- Deep inbound plumbing: Facebook and LinkedIn lead ads, website forms, Zapier, Make, GoHighLevel, HubSpot (source: trysetter.com).
- Books inside the conversation, with no "click this link" handoff to a scheduler, which is where booking flows leak.
- 113+ languages, plus done-for-you onboarding and Zoom support on the upper tiers (source: trysetter.com).
- Public pricing, where plenty of rivals force a sales call before naming a number.

**Cons**

- No Instagram DM support listed, and no Telegram (source: trysetter.com).
- No free trial or free plan, so the cheapest test on real leads is $497 (source: trysetter.com).
- Fully automated by default. Monitoring and fallback exist, but you're not approving messages before they send.
- Credits aren't defined publicly, so your true cost per lead is unknowable before a sales call.
- Entry price assumes volume, and thin review coverage means little social proof to lean on.

## How long does Setter AI take to set up?

How fast you go live depends on which channel you turn on first, not on the software. Onboarding is self-serve (connect lead forms through Zapier or Make, point it at your calendar) or done-for-you for businesses generating 500+ leads a month (source: trysetter.com). Self-serve is a same-day job. The channel underneath is where the weeks go.

**Website chat** is fastest. It's an embed, answering the same afternoon.

**WhatsApp** needs a Business Platform number, a verified business, and template approvals before you can message anyone outside an open window. It also carries a cost no setter's pricing page includes: Meta moved WhatsApp Business Platform to per-message billing on 1 July 2025, so every marketing and utility template is metered on top of your subscription (source: developers.facebook.com). Replies inside an open window stay free, which is why the [WhatsApp 24-hour window](/blog/whatsapp-24-hour-window) matters.

**SMS in the US** is slowest. You must register for A2P 10DLC before an application can text a 10-digit long code, and carriers police it hard: T-Mobile passes through a $1,000 fee for program evasion and $10,000 per content-code violation (source: twilio.com). Start registration the week you sign.

**CRM wiring** is easy on the listed stack. GoHighLevel and HubSpot are native, so a booked call lands as a contact and an event without a middle layer. Anything else routes through Zapier or Make: one more subscription, one more failure point, and a lag that eats the ten seconds you paid for. Call it a same-week launch on every channel except SMS, which is a same-month launch.

## Which Setter AI alternatives are worth comparing?

These tools don't all do the same job. Three are AI setters, two are chat-marketing platforms with AI bolted on, one is Instagram-native, one is a shared team inbox. Prices came from each vendor's own pricing page in August 2026.

| Tool | Entry price | Model | Channels | Free tier / trial | Best for |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| **Setter AI (TrySetter)** | $497/mo (1,000 credits) | Per-lead credits | WhatsApp, SMS, web chat | None listed | High-volume paid-ad inbound |
| **Luca** | $99/mo | Flat monthly | Instagram, WhatsApp, Telegram, Messenger | Yes | Coaches closing in DMs who want to approve replies |
| **SetSmart** | $25/mo (250 AI messages) | Per-message tiers | Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger | 7 days on Pro+ | Instagram-first solos on a tight budget |
| **Inrō** | Free, then EUR 12.99/mo | Active contacts | Instagram DMs, comments, story replies | Free plan + 14-day trial | Creators automating IG comment-to-DM |
| **ManyChat** | Free, then $14/mo | Active contacts | IG, Messenger, TikTok, Telegram; WhatsApp/SMS on Pro+ | Free plan (25 contacts) | Broad chat marketing and flow building |
| **Chatfuel** | Free, then $49/mo | Usage-limited tiers | Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp | Free plan + trial | AI sales assistant on Meta channels |
| **respond.io** | $79/mo | Contacts you talk to | Multi-channel inbox incl. WhatsApp | 7-day trial | Teams needing a shared multi-channel inbox |

*Sources: each vendor's own pricing page, retrieved August 2026. Luca rows reflect current product.*

Read that table for shape, not just price. SetSmart at $25/mo and Setter AI at $497/mo aren't chasing the same buyer; they meter different things at different volumes. ManyChat's $14 entry buys 250 active contacts and a flow builder, not an AI setter, which the [ManyChat alternative for coaches](/blog/manychat-alternative-for-coaches) breakdown covers. GoHighLevel sits outside the table as a CRM first: $97/mo plus a $50/mo AI Employee add-on and usage charges (source: gohighlevel.com). For depth on the AI-setter three, see the [SetSmart review](/blog/setsmart-review) and the [best AI DM setter](/blog/best-ai-dm-setter) roundup.

## A worked example: Marcus, a strength coach at 160 leads a month

Marcus runs a twelve-week strength program and sells it over WhatsApp, because half his clients are in the Gulf. He spends about $2,500/mo on Meta lead ads and pulls roughly 40 form fills a week. The program is $3,000. I won't invent a booking rate for him, and the maths we can actually check decides this anyway.

On Starter he'd pay $497/mo, or about $397/mo annually, for 1,000 credits against 160 leads. That's headroom he won't use, so his real cost is roughly $3.10 per lead monthly, or $2.48 annually, if one credit covers a whole conversation. If credits meter per message and his threads run six AI messages plus a three-touch follow-up, that's nine credits a lead, 1,440 a month, and he's over the tier before month one closes. Same sticker price, very different bill. WhatsApp per-message billing sits on top (source: developers.facebook.com).

The reply Setter AI would send from his criteria:

> **Lead (2:14am Riyadh):** filled out the form for the 12 week thing. what's the price? >**Setter AI (2:14am):** Hey Faisal, thanks for filling that in. It's a 12-week 1:1 program at $3,000. Before I quote you anything specific: are you training now, or starting from scratch? And what's your goal by December?

That's a good message. It's fast, it doesn't dodge the price, and it asks a qualifying question no human setter asks at 2am, because a human setter at 2am is asleep. Marcus's real question is whether he wants that going out unread at a $3,000 price point. At 160 leads he's paying a scale price to solve a problem he doesn't have yet. The [AI setter vs human setter](/blog/ai-setter-vs-human-setter) comparison runs the same trade against payroll.

## Which edge cases won't the demo show you?

**The lead is in a different timezone than your calendar.** Calendly and Google Calendar resolve timezones correctly, but the AI's sense of "tomorrow morning" comes from the thread, not your working hours. Set hard availability windows in the calendar tool before launch, not in the prompt. Otherwise a lead in Manila books your 4am.

**The lead already bought.** Inbound forms don't know who's a client. If an existing client fills a lead-magnet form, the setter pitches them a call for a program they already pay for. Block known customers in the CRM, and check the block works on phone number, not just email.

**The lead replies after the WhatsApp window closes.** A lead who goes quiet for 26 hours and then answers has closed your free service window. The next message needs an approved template or it won't send (source: developers.facebook.com). Get a re-engagement template approved before you need it.

**The lead asks something the AI shouldn't answer.** Injury status, a mental-health disclosure, a payment dispute. These need a handoff rule, not a better prompt. Decide which keywords stop the automation, then test the stop before real traffic runs through.

## Troubleshooting: what goes wrong with Setter AI?

| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
| --- | --- | --- |
| First reply takes minutes, not seconds | Lead form wired through a Zapier polling trigger, not an instant webhook | Switch to a native Facebook lead-ad connection or an instant webhook; polling eats the whole speed advantage |
| Messages send but never arrive on US SMS | A2P 10DLC brand or campaign not approved | Finish registration; carriers filter unregistered 10DLC traffic and T-Mobile charges evasion penalties (source: twilio.com) |
| WhatsApp replies fail after a day of silence | The 24-hour service window closed | Send an approved template; per-message billing applies (source: developers.facebook.com) |
| Credits drain faster than lead count | Credits meter per message, not per lead | Get the conversion rule in writing, then cap follow-up touches per thread |
| Calendar shows double bookings | Two tools writing to the same calendar | Give the setter a dedicated booking type with buffer rules, not raw availability |
| Replies sound off-brand on price | Criteria written as rules, not voice examples | Feed it transcripts of how you answer price |
| Leads say "you already messaged me" | Duplicate threads from repeat form fills | De-duplicate on phone number, not just email |

## What mistakes do Setter AI buyers make?

**Buying on speed alone.** Ten seconds is real, and it's the strongest thing this tool does. Speed only converts if the message that arrives is the right one, and at a $3,000 price point a fast wrong answer is worse than a slow right one.

**Turning on every channel at once.** Launch one, read the first hundred threads yourself, then add the next. Three unwatched channels is three times the blast radius when a prompt is wrong.

**Writing qualification criteria like a form.** Five hard questions in a row makes the thread feel like an application. Leads answer two and vanish.

**Assuming Instagram is coming.** Meta has offered an official Instagram Messaging API since 2024, usable by any Professional account with the right permissions (source: developers.facebook.com). Setter AI still doesn't list it, and buying on a roadmap promise is buying nothing.

**No handoff plan.** Deciding what pulls a human in after launch means deciding it mid-conversation, during one you're already losing.

## What do third-party ratings say about Setter AI?

We went looking for independent star ratings and mostly came up empty, which beats filling the gap with a number we can't stand behind. As of August 2026 we found no Setter AI profile with a star rating on G2 or Capterra, and no Trustpilot listing in search. Product Hunt shows 371 followers across two launches and no aggregate rating.

It's a young category with few reviews to read, so this isn't a knock. It does mean you're buying without the usual social proof, so ask for two customer references at your volume.

## Where does Luca differ from Setter AI?

Luca does the same core job as Setter AI: it qualifies leads, drafts replies in your voice, runs follow-up and rescue cadences, and books calls. The differences are channel, control, and price.

Channels first. Luca is built Instagram-first and also covers WhatsApp, Telegram, and Facebook Messenger. Setter AI centers on WhatsApp, SMS, and website chat (source: trysetter.com). For a lot of coaches the Instagram inbox is the whole funnel, and a setter that can't reach it can't set anything. WhatsApp-heavy coaches can go either way; the [WhatsApp for coaches](/blog/whatsapp-for-coaches) guide helps you weigh it.

Then control. Setter AI ships fully automated. Luca ships with auto-send off, so every AI reply lands in a review queue and you approve, edit, or reject in a tap. Once drafts sound like you, turn auto-send on for the flows you trust. The reason we default to off is boring: at high-ticket prices, one wrong message to a hot lead costs more than the minute it takes to read it.

**Illustrative DM example (anonymized):**

> **Lead:** saw your reel on rebuilding strength after an injury. is your coaching 1:1 or a group thing? >**Luca draft (pending your approval):** Hey, thanks for reaching out. It's 1:1, built around your body and your schedule. Quick one so I point you right: are you cleared to train now, or still working back from the injury?

You read that, tweak a word, and send. Price is the third split: Luca starts at $99/mo flat rather than per-lead, so the bill doesn't climb with volume.

Now the uncomfortable part. **Setter AI beats Luca on several things, and I'd say so on a call.** It's faster on pure form-to-first-message. Its SMS and website-chat coverage is real, and Luca doesn't compete there. Its 113+ languages beat ours, its lead-ad plumbing is further along, and done-for-you onboarding with Zoom support is a service layer a $99 plan doesn't fund. If you run thousands of paid form fills a month across SMS and WhatsApp, Setter AI is the better-shaped product and Luca is the wrong purchase.

## Decision criteria: which one should you buy?

**Choose Setter AI if** your leads arrive as paid-ad form fills at 500+ a month, you sell on WhatsApp, SMS, or website chat, and you're fine with the AI sending unsupervised.

**Choose Luca if** your leads arrive as Instagram DMs, story replies, or comments, you sell a high-ticket offer where each conversation carries weight, and you want to approve messages before they send.

**Choose SetSmart or Inrō if** you're Instagram-only, under a few hundred conversations a month, and price is what decides it.

**Choose ManyChat or Chatfuel if** what you need is a flow builder and broadcast tool rather than a sales-conversation AI.

**Run both if** you have two funnels: paid lead ads feeding WhatsApp and SMS, organic Instagram DMs on the other. Route by source, and don't let both tools touch one thread.

**Buy neither yet if** you're under about 30 real conversations a month. At that volume you're the setter. The complete guide to AI setters for coaches covers what to fix first.

## An honest limit

This limit applies to every tool in this category, Luca included. No AI setter reads a lead the way you do at your best. When someone opens up about a real fear, a money worry, or a past coach who let them down, that's a human moment. The AI can qualify and book. It can't fully replace your judgment when a conversation turns emotional.

What that failure looks like is worth naming, because vendors describe it in the abstract and buyers meet it in the specific. The AI answers a grief disclosure with a booking link. It quotes $3,000 to someone who just said they lost their job. It keeps running a five-touch cadence at a lead whose last message was "I'm dealing with something, can we pause." None of those are bugs. The model did what it was told, and it doesn't know what it's holding.

A hand-off ladder is the fix, and you build it before launch. Set stop-words that halt automation and notify you: refund, dispute, injury, diagnosis, lawyer, "can we pause," anything that reads as distress. Send any thread hitting a price objection twice to a human. Read the ten longest threads every day, because a long thread is the cheapest sign of a complicated one. When you take over, take over visibly: say you're the coach, say you read the thread, and don't pretend the earlier messages were you typing.

Setter AI's answer is monitoring with human fallback. Luca's is review-by-default. Neither removes the ceiling, and any vendor claiming their AI closes high-ticket coaching on its own is overselling. The tool handles volume and speed. You handle the moments that close.

Speed is where this category earns its keep. The Lead Response Management Study (Oldroyd, MIT and InsideSales) found that when first contact slips from 5 minutes to 30, the odds of qualifying a lead drop about 21x and the odds of reaching them at all drop roughly 100x (source: leadresponsemanagement.org). A setter replying in seconds protects that window better than any human roster can. More in [speed to lead](/blog/dm-response-time-speed-to-lead).

## The verdict

It earns 4.0 out of 5 and a fair recommendation for the business it's built for: steady inbound ad or form volume, 10-second follow-up, hands-off booking on WhatsApp and SMS. At that scale the per-lead price pays for itself.

The catch is fit, and two questions decide it. Are your leads in Instagram DMs, and do you want to read messages before they send? If either answer is yes, Luca fits better. See [Luca's pricing](/pricing) and start with review on, then loosen the reins as the drafts start sounding like you.

## FAQ

### Is Setter AI worth it for coaches?

It depends on your channels and volume. Setter AI is worth it if you run heavy inbound ads or forms and sell over WhatsApp, SMS, or website chat, where its ~10-second automated follow-up shines (source: trysetter.com). We score it 4.0 out of 5. It's less worth it if you sell in Instagram DMs, and it's a stretch below a few hundred leads a month given the $497/mo start.

### How much does Setter AI cost?

As of August 2026, Setter AI pricing is per-lead, billed in monthly credits. It starts at $497/mo for 1,000 credits, then $2,297/mo for 5,000, and $3,497/mo for 10,000 (source: trysetter.com). Annual billing lowers the effective rate to roughly $397/mo for the entry tier. The pricing page lists no free trial and no free plan.

### What does a Setter AI credit include?

Setter AI's pricing page prices in credits but doesn't publish a credit-to-message or credit-to-lead conversion (retrieved 2026-08-07). The model is described as per-lead, which implies one credit covers one lead conversation. Confirm in writing whether follow-ups and reminders draw credits separately, and what happens when a tier runs out mid-month.

### Does Setter AI work on Instagram DMs?

Not that its site lists. Setter AI markets WhatsApp, SMS, and a website chatbot, and connects to lead-ad and website forms (source: trysetter.com). Meta has offered an official Instagram Messaging API to Professional accounts since 2024 (source: developers.facebook.com), so the capability exists industry-wide. If Instagram is your main funnel, pick a setter built for that inbox.

### How long does Setter AI take to set up?

Website chat is same-day since it's an embed. WhatsApp takes days because you need a Business Platform number, business verification, and template approvals. US SMS takes longest: A2P 10DLC registration is mandatory before an application can text a long code, and carriers penalise evasion heavily (source: twilio.com). Done-for-you onboarding is offered on the upper tiers.

### Is there a free trial for Setter AI?

Not on its pricing page. As of August 2026, Setter AI lists no free trial and no free plan, with paid tiers starting at $497/mo (source: trysetter.com). By comparison, SetSmart offers 7 days on Pro and above, respond.io offers a 7-day trial, and Inrō has a free plan (sources: each vendor's pricing page).

### What are the best Setter AI alternatives?

It depends on channel. For Instagram-first coaching DMs, Luca ($99/mo flat), SetSmart ($25/mo) and Inrō (free, then EUR 12.99/mo) are the closest fits. For broad chat marketing, ManyChat ($14/mo) and Chatfuel ($49/mo). For a shared multi-channel team inbox, respond.io ($79/mo). Prices verified from vendor pricing pages, August 2026.

### Does Setter AI replace a human setter?

Partly. It handles the repetitive work at speed: instant replies, qualifying, follow-ups, reminders, and booking. It can't replace human judgment when a conversation turns emotional, which is the honest limit of every AI setter. Salesforce's 2024 State of Sales found AI-using sales teams were 1.3x more likely to report revenue growth, 83% versus 66% (source: salesforce.com).
