---# 10 Free ManyChat Templates for Coaches (2026)

> Below are 10 free ManyChat templates for coaches, each a complete build spec: the exact trigger, the message copy, the conditions, and the actions. They cover the flows coaches actually run, from comment-to-DM lead magnet delivery to call booking. Every trigger and setting name was checked against ManyChat's help centre in August 2026, and none of it costs anything.

## Key takeaways

- Each template is a complete spec: trigger, message copy in a coach's voice, conditions, and actions. No email gate, no checkout.
- ManyChat's Free plan covers 25 Active Contacts a month; Pro runs $39/mo month-to-month at 2,500 contacts (manychat.com, August 2026). One good Reel can blow through the free cap in a day.
- On Instagram, automations can only message a lead within Meta's 24-hour window after their last message, so the follow-up templates are built to run inside it.
- Templates handle the predictable work. The section on where script logic ends covers what to do when a lead asks a question your flow has no branch for.

---

Search for ManyChat templates for coaches and you'll find Gumroad checkouts selling five-message flows for $47. That's a strange market, because the flows themselves are simple. What costs money is knowing which trigger to pick, what the messages should say, and where the logic should branch. So we wrote all of that down and made it free.

Rebuild any template below in ManyChat's editor in ten to twenty minutes. The message copy is written the way a good coach sounds in the DMs, and it's yours to edit.

## How do these free ManyChat templates work?

Each template is a named flow you rebuild by hand: pick the trigger, paste the messages, add the conditions and actions listed. ManyChat has no import format for third-party flows, so a written spec is the honest way to share one.

The trigger names below match ManyChat's current editor. The three you'll use most are "User comments on your Post or Reel," "User replies to your Story," and the Keywords trigger, which fires when a DM matches rules like "Message is" or "Message contains a whole word" (help.manychat.com, August 2026).

All ten templates reply only to people who acted first with a comment, a story reply, or a DM. That keeps them on the right side of Instagram's rules, which we covered in our guide to [whether ManyChat is safe](/blog/is-manychat-safe).

## How did we build these templates?

The disclosure first: we build Luca, an AI DM setter that competes with ManyChat for part of the same budget. We're not affiliates, and we earn nothing when you use ManyChat more.

We published a full [ManyChat review](/blog/manychat-review) in August and rated it 3.9/5, with the flow builder and comment-to-DM triggers as the parts we'd tell most coaches to keep. These templates are that advice made concrete, because capture and delivery are what ManyChat genuinely does well.

Every trigger, matching rule, and setting was verified against ManyChat's help centre and pricing page in August 2026. The message copy is ours. Where a template hits a real platform limit, we say so in the spec.

## Template 1: The Lead Magnet Drop

The comment-to-DM flow that made ManyChat famous, and still the first template worth building. A lead comments a keyword, your lead magnet lands in their DMs, and a follow-up question starts a real conversation. The strategy side is in our guide to [comment-to-DM automation](/blog/comment-to-dm-automation).

- **Trigger:** Instagram -> "User comments on your Post or Reel" -> *Specific post or reel* -> keyword: `GUIDE`
- **Public reply (add 2-3 variations; ManyChat rotates them):** "Sent! Check your DMs." - "Just sent it over."
- **DM 1 (set as a Private Reply):** "Hey! You asked for [guide name], so here it is: [link]. If the link misbehaves, reply HELP and I'll sort it."
- **DM 2, after a Smart Delay of 1 hour:** "Curious what made you grab it. What are you working on right now?"
- **Condition:** if the lead replies -> **Action:** add tag `guide-replied` and notify yourself in the app.
- **Action on entry:** add tag `guide-2026`.

## Template 2: The Story Qualifier

Story replies are the warmest inbound you get, and most coaches answer them hours late. This flow answers in minutes and sorts the repliers before you ever open the inbox. Our post on [Instagram story reply automation](/blog/instagram-story-reply-automation) covers when to run it.

- **Trigger:** Instagram -> "User replies to your Story" -> *All stories*. Optional: a delay of up to 10 minutes so the reply doesn't land instantly, plus the ❤ auto-reaction.
- **DM 1:** "Appreciate you replying to that. So I send you something actually useful: are you working on this right now, or gathering ideas for later?"
- **Quick replies:** "Working on it now" - "Gathering ideas"
- **Condition:** reply is "Working on it now" -> **Action:** add tag `warm-now`, notify yourself, and send: "Got it. What's the biggest thing in the way at the moment?"
- **Condition:** reply is "Gathering ideas" -> **Action:** add tag `nurture`, send: "Fair enough. I'll keep sharing what works. Reply any time a question comes up."

## Template 3: The First Hello

A welcome flow for people who DM you first. ManyChat's Conversation Starters show tappable buttons to anyone who has never messaged your account, which beats a silent inbox while you're with clients. Speed matters: HubSpot Research found almost two-thirds of buyers expect a response within 10 minutes of reaching out.

- **Trigger:** Instagram -> Conversation Starters (shown to first-time messagers only).
- **Buttons:** "I want coaching" - "What do you charge?" - "Just have a question"
- **Path 1, "I want coaching":** "Good place to start. Tell me a bit about where you're at, and what you'd want to be different in 90 days?" -> **Action:** add tag `coaching-interest`, notify yourself.
- **Path 2, "What do you charge?":** route into Template 6 below.
- **Path 3, "Just have a question":** "Go for it. I read everything here, and if it needs a longer answer I'll voice-note you." -> **Action:** add tag `question`, notify yourself.

## Template 4: The FAQ Deflector

Answers the questions every coaching account gets weekly, without you retyping them. Keep it boring on purpose: FAQs are where scripted replies shine and nobody minds them.

- **Trigger:** Keywords ("User sends a message") -> rule: *Message contains a whole word*, one keyword set per question. Examples: `program`, `results`, `schedule`, `refund`.
- **Reply for `program`:** "The short version: [one-line description of your offer]. The full breakdown lives here: [link]. Want me to tell you if it fits your situation?"
- **Reply for `schedule`:** "Sessions are [format and cadence]. Most clients fit them around work without much drama. What does your week usually look like?"
- **Condition:** if the lead replies after any FAQ answer -> **Action:** add tag `faq-engaged`, notify yourself.
- **Catch-all:** set your Default Reply to "Good question, and I'd rather answer it properly than autopilot it. Give me a few hours and I'll reply personally." -> **Action:** notify yourself.

## Template 5: The Webinar Doorman

Fills a webinar or live training from a single post. Same mechanics as the Lead Magnet Drop, with one honest note: day-of reminders can't run on Instagram once the lead's 24-hour window closes, so collect an email in the flow and send reminders there.

- **Trigger:** Instagram -> "User comments on your Post or Reel" -> *Specific post or reel* -> keyword: `CLASS`
- **DM 1 (Private Reply):** "Here's your spot for [training name] on [date]: [registration link]. It's live, and I answer questions at the end."
- **DM 2, immediately after:** "Drop your best email and I'll send the reminder there too, so the algorithm can't eat it."
- **Action:** save the reply to the Email system field, add tag `webinar-[month]`.
- **Condition:** no reply after a Smart Delay of 20 hours -> send Template 7's nudge, once, while the 24-hour window is still open.

## Template 6: The Price Question Handler

"How much is it?" deserves a straight answer and one good question back. Dodging the number kills trust, and quoting it with no question kills the conversation. We wrote about the sequencing in [the price conversation in DMs](/blog/the-price-conversation-in-dms).

- **Trigger:** Keywords -> rule: *Message contains* -> `price`, `cost`, `how much`, `investment`.
- **DM 1:** "Fair question. [Offer name] runs [price or honest range], depending on [the one variable that moves it]. So I can tell you which version fits: what are you working toward right now?"
- **Condition:** lead replies with anything -> **Action:** add tag `price-asked`, notify yourself immediately. This is the thread you take over personally.
- **Condition:** no reply -> **Action:** add tag `price-ghost` for Template 7.
- **Do not** add a second automated message about price. One quoted number plus one question is the whole job.

## Template 7: The Gentle Nudge

A single follow-up for leads who went quiet mid-conversation. On Instagram this must fire inside Meta's 24-hour messaging window, counted from the lead's last message; after that, ManyChat can't send there at all (developers.facebook.com, August 2026). The same clock exists on WhatsApp, which we unpacked in the [WhatsApp 24-hour window](/blog/whatsapp-24-hour-window) guide. Persistence pays over longer arcs too. RAIN Group's research puts the average at about eight touches to land a first meeting.

- **Trigger:** none. This is a continuation inside Templates 1, 2, 5, or 6.
- **Step 1:** Smart Delay -> 20 hours after your last message.
- **Condition:** the lead has not replied since the delay started.
- **DM:** "No pressure on this, just didn't want it buried. If now's wrong, tell me and I'll leave it. If you're still curious, what's the one thing holding you back?"
- **Action:** add tag `nudged-once`. One nudge per conversation. Our [DM follow-up sequence](/blog/dm-follow-up-sequence) covers the longer multi-day version for channels that allow it.

## Template 8: The Quiet-Lead Reopener

Re-engagement, done the only way Instagram permits: waiting for the lead to act again, then picking the thread back up. The tag from Template 7 is what makes this work.

- **Trigger:** Instagram -> "User replies to your Story" -> *All stories*, and a second copy on "User comments on your Post or Reel" -> *All posts or reels* -> *Any comment*.
- **Condition (first block in the flow):** contact has tag `nudged-once` or `price-ghost`. Everyone else exits into your normal story or comment flow.
- **DM:** "Good to see you back. Last time we talked you were weighing [topic]. Did that get sorted, or is it still on the list?"
- **Action:** remove tag `nudged-once`, add tag `reopened`, notify yourself.
- **Why it works:** the lead's own action re-opens the 24-hour window, so the message is both allowed and expected.

## Template 9: The Receipts Ask

Collects testimonials while the win is fresh, with permission attached. Run it by inviting clients in a story or group chat to DM you a keyword when something clicks.

- **Trigger:** Keywords -> rule: *Message is* -> `WIN`
- **DM 1:** "Love it. Tell me exactly what happened, in your own words. What changed, and what were you expecting instead?"
- **Action:** save the reply to a custom field `testimonial_text`, add tag `testimonial-given`.
- **DM 2:** "That's exactly the kind of thing people need to hear before they start. Are you okay with me sharing it, first name only?"
- **Condition:** reply contains `yes` -> **Action:** add tag `testimonial-approved`. Anything else stays private. Never publish without the explicit yes; a paraphrased or invented testimonial is a compliance problem, not a marketing shortcut.

## Template 10: The Call Booker

Sends your booking link only after two qualifying answers, so your calendar fills with people you can actually help. The questions matter more than the link; a full set is in [lead qualification questions for coaches](/blog/lead-qualification-questions-for-coaches), and the wider play in [booking calls from Instagram DMs](/blog/book-calls-from-instagram-dms).

- **Trigger:** Keywords -> rule: *Message contains a whole word* -> `call`, `book`, `chat`.
- **DM 1:** "Happy to. Two quick things first so the call is worth your time. What are you working toward right now?"
- **DM 2 (after their answer):** "Got it. And what's stopped that from happening so far?"
- **Action:** save both answers to custom fields `goal` and `blocker`, add tag `call-qualified`.
- **DM 3:** "That's exactly what the call is for. Grab a time here: [booking link]. It'll show [length] minutes; bring your numbers if you have them."
- **Condition:** if either answer is blank or one word -> notify yourself instead of sending the link, and take over.

## What would these templates do in a real launch week?

Maya, a nutrition coach with 11,000 followers, runs the Lead Magnet Drop on one Reel with the keyword GUIDE. The Reel does well: 240 people comment during the week.

On ManyChat's Free plan, that flow is dead by breakfast. The Free tier covers 25 Active Contacts a month, and 240 commenters is nearly ten times the cap. Maya needs Pro: $39 month-to-month for 2,500 contacts, so 240 uses under a tenth of her allowance ([full ManyChat pricing breakdown](/blog/manychat-pricing)).

The funnel math: 240 comments produce about 215 delivered DMs after a few private accounts and deleted comments fall out. Around 70 people answer the follow-up question, Template 7 nudges the 145 who didn't, and 19 more come back. Of those 89 conversations, 12 hit the Price Question Handler and 7 book through the Call Booker.

The templates did the delivery, sorting, and chasing on autopilot for $39. What they didn't do is answer the 89 humans, and that's the part that decides whether the 7 calls become clients.

## Where does template logic end and conversation begin?

A template executes branches you drew in advance. The moment a lead types something with no branch, "Will this work if I travel every other week?", the flow has nothing to say. ManyChat's fallback is the Default Reply, and its escape hatch is Live Chat, which hands the thread to you.

Both are fine, and both mean the same thing: from that message on, someone has to actually converse. ManyChat also sells an AI add-on that recognises intents rather than exact keywords, which stretches the script further, though it's still your funnel's logic underneath.

The conversation layer is the category Luca sits in. It reads the whole thread, drafts a reply in your voice, and queues it for one-tap approval; auto-send stays off by default because a human should own the close. The honest limit runs both ways: no template on this page closes a client, and no AI setter should run a price negotiation unattended either. Our [ManyChat alternatives roundup](/blog/manychat-alternative-for-coaches) compares the options, ours included.

## Which ManyChat templates for coaches should you build first?

Build for the stage you're in, not for completeness.

- **Under about $5k/mo, small audience:** build the First Hello and FAQ Deflector. Your bottleneck is response speed, both fit the Free plan, and 25 contacts a month is survivable at low DM volume.
- **Posting daily, audience growing:** build the Lead Magnet Drop and Story Qualifier. Your bottleneck is capture, and these two turn attention into named, tagged leads. Budget for Pro before the Reel pops.
- **Launching something datable:** build the Webinar Doorman and Call Booker, in that order, at least a week before doors open. Testing a flow the night before a launch is how launches break.
- **Pipeline full, conversations leaking:** build the Price Question Handler, Gentle Nudge, and Quiet-Lead Reopener. These three catch the follow-through money you're currently dropping.

If two stages describe you, build the earlier stage's templates first. Capture problems compound faster than conversion problems.

## What mistakes break these templates?

Five we see repeatedly.

**Shipping all ten at once.** Every flow needs testing from a second account, and ten untested flows means ten silent failures you discover from a confused lead. Ship two, watch a week, add the next.

**Reusing one keyword everywhere.** If GUIDE triggers three different flows, ManyChat has to pick one and you won't like its choice. One keyword, one flow, and keep a list so future-you doesn't collide with past-you.

**Copy that sounds like a bot.** "Thank you for your interest! 🤖 Click below to access your exclusive resource!" reads as machinery and trains leads to disengage. Edit our copy until it sounds like your voice notes.

**Pretending the automation is you typing.** If someone asks whether they're talking to a bot, the answer is yes and the template should say so. Meta's policies and California's bot-disclosure law point the same direction.

**Quoting price with no question attached.** A bare number ends the exchange. The price template works because it answers straight and then asks about the lead's situation.

## Why isn't your template firing?

Most "broken" templates are one setting away from working. Check these before rebuilding anything.

| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Comment trigger silent on a new post | Trigger set to *Specific post or reel*, pointing at the old post | Duplicate the trigger for the new post, or switch to *All posts or reels* with a unique keyword |
| Keyword fires on the wrong messages | Rule set to *Message contains*, matching inside longer words | Change the rule to *Message contains a whole word* or *Message is* |
| Follow-up never sends | Lead's last message is more than 24 hours old, so Instagram's window is closed | Shorten the Smart Delay to keep the nudge inside 24 hours, or wait for the lead's next inbound action |
| Story trigger stopped after the story expired | Trigger tied to a specific story, which lapsed after 24 hours | Use *All stories*, which also covers stories saved to Highlights |
| Flow stopped sending mid-month | Free plan hit its 25 Active Contact cap | Upgrade to Pro or pause lower-value templates until the month resets |
| Lead magnet DM never arrives | First message not set as a Private Reply on a comment trigger | Set the first block to "Send as a Private Reply" in the flow |

The ten templates above cover the scripted half of your inbox. When you want the conversational half drafted in your voice and queued for your approval, plans and conversation allowances are on [Luca's pricing](/pricing) page.

## FAQ

### Are these ManyChat templates really free?

Yes. Every flow spec on this page is complete: trigger settings, message copy, conditions, and actions. Rebuild them in ManyChat's editor in a few minutes each. There's no email gate and nothing to buy, and the message copy is yours to edit into your own voice.

### Do these templates work on ManyChat's Free plan?

Mostly. ManyChat's Free plan includes basic automations for up to 25 Active Contacts a month, with ManyChat branding on the first message (manychat.com, August 2026). WhatsApp, SMS, and email flows need Pro, from $39 month-to-month. The contact cap is the real limit, since one good Reel can exceed it.

### How do I install a template in ManyChat?

Create a new automation in the editor, add the trigger named in the template, paste the message copy into message blocks, then add the listed conditions and actions. Test it from a second account before switching it live. Each build takes ten to twenty minutes once your channel is connected.

### Can ManyChat send follow-ups days after a lead's last message?

Not on Instagram. Meta's messaging policy gives businesses 24 hours from the lead's last message to reply, and Instagram doesn't support the message tags that extend it (developers.facebook.com, August 2026). Follow up inside that window, or wait for the lead's next comment or story reply to re-open it.

### Do these templates work on WhatsApp or Telegram?

The keyword-based templates do. ManyChat's Keywords trigger works on Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, Telegram, and SMS, so the FAQ, price, and booking flows port over. Comment and story-reply triggers are Instagram-specific. WhatsApp also enforces its own 24-hour customer service window, so the same follow-up limits apply.

### Will ManyChat's AI make these templates conversational?

Partly. ManyChat sells an AI add-on that recognises intents and fills steps, which stretches a script further than exact keywords do. It still runs your funnel's logic rather than holding a genuine sales conversation, so treat it as a smarter trigger, and plan a human handoff either way.

### What happens when a lead goes off script?

The template stops matching, and ManyChat falls back to your Default Reply, which is why every template here tags the contact and notifies you. Off-script is usually a buying signal. A real question deserves a real answer, from you or from a tool built to draft one in your voice.
