---# Appointwise vs Setter AI vs Luca (2026 Comparison)

> Appointwise ($97-$297/mo plus a required GoHighLevel account) is an AI setter that lives inside GHL, built for agencies. Setter AI ($497-$3,497/mo) is a standalone WhatsApp-first setter billed in per-lead credits. Luca, our own product, is the conversational multi-channel option with a human review queue, $99-$499/mo flat. All prices verified on each vendor's site, August 2026.

## Key takeaways

- Appointwise runs inside GoHighLevel: Starter $97/mo, Growth $297/mo, Enterprise custom, with a 14-day free trial (appointwise.io, August 2026). A GHL subscription from $97/mo comes on top.
- Setter AI is WhatsApp-first and standalone: $497/mo for 500 monthly credits, $2,297 for 2,500, $3,497 for 5,000, credits currently promo-doubled (trysetter.com, August 2026).
- Luca covers Instagram, WhatsApp, Telegram, and Messenger at $99-$499/mo flat, and is the only one of the three where a human approves every reply before it sends.
- The real decision is architecture, not features: GHL-embedded vs standalone credits vs conversational multi-channel with review.

Nobody has written a real Appointwise vs Setter AI comparison, which is odd, because coaches ask us about both in the same breath. The two tools share a label, "AI appointment setter," and almost nothing else. One is a module you bolt into a CRM you already pay for. The other is a standalone machine that answers WhatsApp leads in seconds and bills you per lead.

So we wrote the comparison ourselves, and we put our own tool in it, because leaving Luca out would be a stranger kind of bias than including it. We build a competing AI setter. Read everything below knowing that, and check any claim against the sources at the bottom.

## How did we evaluate these three tools?

The disclosure first: **we make Luca, and Luca competes with both tools on this page.** That's a bigger bias than any affiliate link, so here is exactly how we tried to contain it.

Every price and feature claim below was read off appointwise.io, trysetter.com, and gohighlevel.com on August 14, 2026, with the retrieval date on every source. Nothing comes from memory, forums, or review roundups. Where a vendor doesn't publish something, we say "not published" instead of guessing.

We judged each tool on the job it was built for, then separately on the job a coach selling in the DMs actually needs done. Those are different tests, and collapsing them is how comparison pages turn into brochures. We wrote a full standalone [Setter AI review](/blog/setter-ai-review) earlier this year using the same rules.

What we didn't do: run all three on one production account for a quarter. Feature notes come from vendor documentation, and we flag the places where that difference matters.

## What is Appointwise and who is it built for?

Appointwise is an AI appointment setter that lives inside GoHighLevel. It picks up leads that land in a GHL sub-account, holds the qualifying conversation over SMS, WhatsApp, Instagram, or Facebook Messenger through GHL's channel connections, and books the call on the connected calendar. The pitch is aimed at agencies, coaches, and consultants, and the site says the native GHL connection means setup in minutes (appointwise.io, retrieved August 2026).

Pricing is refreshingly public for this category. Starter is $97/mo, Growth is $297/mo and adds 10 sub-accounts with 10 AI agents each, voicenotes, and revenue analytics, and Enterprise is custom with done-for-you setup. Extra sub-accounts run $29. There's a 14-day free trial with no card required.

The structural fact that decides everything: Appointwise requires GoHighLevel. The site promises more CRM integrations soon, but today GHL is the chassis, so a coach who isn't on GHL is really buying two subscriptions. If you're evaluating GHL itself as your [Instagram CRM](/blog/instagram-crm), that math changes in Appointwise's favour.

## What is Setter AI and who is it built for?

Setter AI, sold at trysetter.com, is a standalone appointment setter built around WhatsApp. A lead fills out a Facebook, LinkedIn, or website form, the form feeds Setter AI through a connector like Zapier, and the AI opens a WhatsApp conversation in about 10 seconds, qualifies the lead, and books the call. It markets SMS and website chat too, but WhatsApp speed is the headline act, and [WhatsApp for coaches](/blog/whatsapp-for-coaches) is genuinely fertile ground for it.

The billing model is per-lead credits. Monthly plans run $497 for 500 credits, $2,297 for 2,500, and $3,497 for 5,000, with credits currently doubled as a promotion. Annual plans drop to $397, $1,997, and $2,997 a month (trysetter.com/pricing, retrieved August 2026). A self-setup trial is now listed on the site, a change from earlier this year.

Who it's built for is written between the lines of that price list: businesses running heavy inbound ad volume where every lead arrives with a phone number. Instagram DM conversations aren't part of the pitch.

## What does Luca do differently?

Luca is a conversational AI setter that answers the DMs people actually send, across Instagram, WhatsApp, Telegram, and Facebook Messenger. It reads each inbound message, qualifies the lead through natural questions rather than a form, drafts a reply in the coach's own voice, and then stops. The draft sits in a review queue until the coach approves it with one tap. Auto-send is off by default on every plan.

That review queue is the design decision the whole product hangs on. The other two tools sell removal of the human; Luca sells scale for the human's judgment, which is a different bet on what a high-ticket sale needs. The distinction between scripted automation and conversational AI is one we've mapped fully in [AI setter vs chatbot](/blog/ai-setter-vs-chatbot).

Pricing is flat: Starter $99/mo for one channel and 300 conversations, Pro $249/mo for all four channels and 1,500, Scale $499/mo for 5,000 with multi-account support, top-ups $29 per 100. Month-to-month, cancel anytime. Follow-up runs a five-touch rescue cadence, and CRM sync covers HubSpot and GoHighLevel.

## When is Appointwise the right choice?

If your business already runs on GoHighLevel, Appointwise is the shortest path to an AI setter and probably the cheapest. The $97 entry is the lowest of the three, the trial is the most generous, and the native connection means your existing pipelines, calendars, and phone numbers just work. No data migration, no new inbox, no second CRM.

The agency case is even stronger. Growth's 10 sub-accounts with 10 AI agents each, at $297/mo, means an agency can put a setter into every client account for less than most tools charge for one. Voicenotes and revenue-tracking analytics are agency-shaped features too. Nothing else on this page touches that per-client economics.

The equally plain flip side: if you're not on GHL, Appointwise makes much less sense. You'd be adopting a full CRM to get a setter, and GHL's own usage fees for SMS and WhatsApp (the WhatsApp add-on is $10/mo per sub-account, plus per-message costs) arrive on top of both subscriptions.

## When is Setter AI the right choice?

If your leads arrive as form fills with phone numbers and your market lives on WhatsApp, Setter AI is built for exactly you. Speed to first contact is the whole product: a reply in roughly 10 seconds, at 3am, in any of 113 languages, forever. For paid-ads businesses where [response speed decides who books](/blog/dm-response-time-speed-to-lead), that consistency is worth real money.

The credit model is also more predictable than it first looks, at low volume. You know the ceiling: 500 credits at $497 is about a dollar per lead under the current doubled-credit promotion, and the meter maps to leads rather than to messages, so a chatty prospect doesn't inflate the bill. Businesses that hate variable software bills can budget it to the cent.

The boundary is the channel list. No Instagram DM support is marketed, there's no approval step before messages send, and below a few hundred leads a month the entry price is hard to justify. Setter AI wins on volume, not on nuance.

## When does Luca fit better?

If the sale happens inside Instagram DMs, Luca is the only tool of the three built for that conversation. Someone replies to a story, asks a half-formed question about your program, and disappears if the answer sounds canned. That thread needs an AI that reads context and a coach who approves the reply, which is the combination Luca ships and the reason [your AI DMs can sound like you](/blog/make-ai-dms-sound-like-you) instead of like a script.

The review queue is the second reason. At a $2,000+ ticket, one wrong automated message costs more than a month of software. Luca drafts, you approve, and you loosen the reins channel by channel as trust builds, rather than going fully automated on day one.

The flat pricing is the third. All four channels and 1,500 conversations on Pro at $249/mo undercuts Setter AI's entry tier by half while covering channels neither rival lists. We'll say the limits just as plainly in the verdict below, because Luca doesn't win every branch.

## What would one coach's month cost on all three?

Meet Maya, a strength coach selling a $1,800 twelve-week program. She gets about 200 leads a month: 120 arrive as Instagram DMs from Reels, 80 as WhatsApp numbers from Meta lead ads. She isn't on GoHighLevel today. The arithmetic, using each vendor's published prices:

**Appointwise:** $97 (Starter) + $97 (GHL Starter) + $10 (GHL WhatsApp add-on) = **$204/mo** before per-message telecom fees, which GHL bills on usage. All 200 leads have a home, since GHL connects Instagram and WhatsApp. The hidden cost is setup: Maya must stand up a CRM she didn't have, and her setter is only as good as that configuration.

**Setter AI:** **$497/mo** covers her 80 WhatsApp leads with credits to spare, roughly $6.20 per covered lead at her volume. Her 120 Instagram leads have no home, so 60% of her pipeline still needs another answer. Setter AI only prices well for Maya if WhatsApp becomes her whole funnel.

**Luca:** Pro at **$249/mo** covers both channels and all 200 conversations inside the 1,500 allowance, about $1.25 per conversation, with every reply reviewed. Our wider cost survey in [what an AI appointment setter costs](/blog/how-much-does-an-ai-appointment-setter-cost) puts these numbers in category context.

Same coach, same month: $204 with a CRM migration attached, $497 for 40% coverage, or $249 flat. Different architectures produce different bills, which is why the sticker prices alone mislead.

## Which edge cases should you test before committing?

**The lead who replies after 25 hours on WhatsApp.** Meta's Business Platform closes the free-form reply window 24 hours after the customer's last message; after that, only an approved template can go out. All three tools live under this rule, so test it: does the tool queue a template, or silently fail? The full rule is in our [WhatsApp 24-hour window](/blog/whatsapp-24-hour-window) guide.

**The same person in two channels.** Maya's lead fills the WhatsApp form and DMs on Instagram. Without dedupe by phone number or CRM record, two AI conversations open, and the lead gets qualified twice. Appointwise leans on GHL's contact records here; on any tool, test the collision before launch.

**The mid-month credit run-out.** On Setter AI, model what happens when credits hit zero on day 22. A setter that goes silent mid-conversation is worse than none, because the lead already got a first reply and now reads the silence as ghosting.

**The 2am message about an injury.** Fully automated tools answer everything at machine speed, including messages that need a human. Confirm each tool's handoff triggers, and confirm the stop actually stops.

## Troubleshooting after launch

| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Appointwise replies stall on one channel | GHL channel connection expired or sub-account misconfigured | Reconnect the channel in GHL settings; test each channel per sub-account, not just one |
| Setter AI never contacts some leads | Form connector (Zapier/Make) mapping broken or lead lacks a phone number | Re-run the connector test with a live form fill; require phone fields on every form |
| WhatsApp messages stop sending after a day | 24-hour window closed; no approved template in place | Get re-engagement templates approved before launch, not after the first failure |
| Bookings land at 4am for the lead | Calendar timezone set to yours, not detected from the lead | Set hard availability windows in the calendar tool, then re-test from another timezone |
| AI answers a question it shouldn't | Handoff keywords missing or too narrow | Add escalation triggers (refunds, medical, complaints) and test each one with a real message |

## Common mistakes when buying an AI setter

**Comparing sticker prices across different meters.** $97 embedded, $497 in credits, and $249 flat aren't on the same axis until you convert them to cost per lead at your volume. Do the Maya math with your own numbers first.

**Forgetting the chassis.** Appointwise's real entry cost includes GoHighLevel, plus usage fees. Budget the stack, not the module.

**Assuming "AI setter" includes Instagram.** Much of the category grew up on WhatsApp, SMS, and forms. If your pipeline is Instagram DMs, check the channel list before anything else; our [Instagram AI chatbot](/blog/instagram-ai-chatbot) roundup covers that inbox specifically.

**Going fully automated on day one at high ticket.** Whatever the tool, run a supervised period first. One off-key message to a $2,000 prospect costs more than the software.

**Trusting the demo instead of your transcripts.** Every demo is trained on the vendor's best case. Feed each trial ten real conversations from your own inbox and judge those replies.

**Ignoring the credit definition.** On per-lead billing, get in writing what one credit covers, whether follow-ups draw credits, and what happens at zero.

## Which one should you pick?

**Choose Appointwise if you already run on GoHighLevel**, or you're an agency deploying setters across client sub-accounts. The economics and the setup speed are unbeatable inside that world, and the 14-day trial makes the test free.

**Choose Setter AI if your leads are form fills with phone numbers, WhatsApp is your market's channel, and volume is high.** Full automation at a 10-second response, with per-lead billing you can budget exactly, is its home turf. Accept the no-Instagram, no-review trade knowingly.

**Choose Luca if the sale lives in your DMs, especially Instagram, and you want to approve what goes out under your name.** Multi-channel coverage including Telegram, flat pricing, and the review queue serve a coach whose voice is the product. Our broader [best AI DM setter](/blog/best-ai-dm-setter) roundup ranks the wider field if none of these three fits.

Running two isn't crazy either: agencies sometimes pair Appointwise inside client GHL accounts with a different setter on their own front-of-house DMs.

## The honest limit

None of these tools closes a high-ticket sale alone, ours included. AI carries the opening, the qualification, the follow-up, and the booking; the close on a serious offer still lands with a human who can hear hesitation and adjust in real time. A great human setter also reads the fifth conversation with a returning lead better than any of the three tools on this page, a comparison we've made honestly in [AI setter vs human setter](/blog/ai-setter-vs-human-setter).

And Luca's specific limit: the review queue costs you minutes every day. Coaches who want a genuinely zero-touch machine will find Appointwise and Setter AI closer to that wish than we are, on purpose.

If the approve-before-send side of this comparison is the one that fits how you sell, the plans and conversation allowances are on [Luca's pricing](/pricing) page.

## FAQ

### Is Appointwise or Setter AI better for coaches?

Appointwise is better if you already run your coaching business on GoHighLevel, since it works inside the CRM you have. Setter AI is better for WhatsApp-heavy inboxes fed by lead forms. Neither lists Instagram DM conversations as a strength, which is where most coaches actually sell.

### How much does Appointwise cost in 2026?

Appointwise lists Starter at $97/mo and Growth at $297/mo, with a custom Enterprise tier and extra sub-accounts at $29 each (appointwise.io, August 2026). A 14-day free trial is offered. Budget for a GoHighLevel subscription too, from $97/mo, because Appointwise runs on GHL's channels.

### How much does Setter AI cost in 2026?

Setter AI's pricing page lists $497/mo for 500 monthly credits, $2,297/mo for 2,500, and $3,497/mo for 5,000, with credits currently doubled as a promotion. Annual plans run $397, $1,997, and $2,997 per month. Pricing is per lead, billed in credits (trysetter.com, August 2026).

### Does Appointwise work without GoHighLevel?

Not today. Appointwise describes a native GoHighLevel integration and says more CRMs are launching soon, but as of August 2026 GHL is the platform it runs on. If you're not a GHL user, add that subscription, from $97/mo, to Appointwise's own price when you compare.

### Does Setter AI work on Instagram DMs?

Instagram isn't the channel Setter AI markets. Its site centres on WhatsApp, where it replies to new leads in about 10 seconds, with lead forms feeding conversations through tools like Zapier. If Instagram DMs are your main pipeline, pick a setter built for that inbox.

### Which of these tools lets you approve messages before they send?

Luca does. Every reply is drafted, queued, and waits for your one-tap approval, with auto-send off by default on every plan. Appointwise and Setter AI are built the opposite way: fully automated conversations that run without review. That's the clearest architectural split between the three.

### What's the cheapest way to test all three?

Run the trials in parallel against real leads. Appointwise offers 14 days free, Setter AI lists a self-setup trial, and Luca is month-to-month at $99 with no lock-in. Send each the same ten transcripts from your actual inbox and judge the drafts, not the demos.
